In 1890, the filibuster was used to block legislation to provide federal supervision of congressional elections & protect the right of Black Americans to vote.
In 2021, the filibuster is again being used to block legislation to protect the right to vote.
Not much has changed.

Getting vaccinated means you’re less likely to catch COVID-19 and more importantly, it means you’re much less likely to have a severe reaction. Protect yourself, get vaccinated. https://t.co/c3yx8bhKoQ. #lagov pic.twitter.com/WnaOmJlwSH

“Communities cannot ‘out-organize’ voter suppression when those they organize to elect won’t protect the vote. And even if they DO out-organize, the ground is being set to overturn results.” – Rep. @AOC #DefendDemocracy #ForThePeopleActhttps://t.co/xXl8dGKJow

Don’t let anyone tell you differently: the CDC guidelines have not changed if you’re unvaccinated.
The vaccine is safe, effective, and free. By getting your shot, you can protect yourself and those around you. Let’s save lives.

You need 60 votes in the Senate to fight the climate crisis or protect our democracy, but Republicans can give massive tax breaks to billionaires and corporations with just 50 votes.
Something has to give. End the filibuster.
